Led by a licensed therapist (Hi! I’m Maddie Mihalich), this group integrates The Essere Method’s 28-day course with weekly virtual group calls (and a fun WhatsApp group chat for daily connection). You will explore body image, self-compassion, and emotional regulation in a supportive environment, engaging in structured activities, discussions, and reflections. Weekly themes will guide you in breaking free from societal pressures and embracing body neutrality.
This program is designed for individuals who struggle with body image, feel trapped in cycles of self-criticism, or are seeking a healthier relationship with their body. It’s ideal for those who have experienced anxiety, shame, or discomfort around food, movement, or appearance and want to explore body neutrality and self-compassion.

Each session will be 1 hour, incorporating discussion, experiential exercises, and action planning.
Week 1: Unpacking Your Narrative & Recognizing Influences
Pre-Session Preparation:
Participants complete Days 1-7 of The Essere Method, focusing on their body image narrative, inner critic, nervous system regulation, and relationship with food.
Session Outline:
10 mins: Welcome, introductions, and group norms.
15 mins: Discuss personal body image narratives (from Day 1’s reflection).
15 mins: Group activity: “Naming the Inner Critic” (Day 3) and exploring how the inner critic impacts daily life.
15 mins: Psychoeducation on the nervous system (Day 4) and grounding techniques.
5 mins: Wrap-up and action steps for the upcoming week.
Week 2: Challenging and Rewiring Thought Patterns
Pre-Session Preparation:
Participants complete Days 8-15, addressing diet culture, social media impact, and reworking language around body image.
Session Outline:
10 mins: Check-in and recap of the week.
15 mins: Group discussion on personal experiences with diet culture and its impacts (Days 7-8).
15 mins: Interactive exercise: “Language Reframe” (Day 9) - participants practice reframing harmful thoughts.
15 mins: Social media audit reflections (Day 12) and setting boundaries around online consumption.
5 mins: Closing with group mantras for the week.
Week 3: Practicing Self-Compassion and Reconnecting with the Body
Pre-Session Preparation:
Participants complete Days 16-23, exploring self-compassion, mindful eating, and joyful movement.
Session Outline:
10 mins: Group check-in: Share insights on self-compassion exercises (Days 17-18).
15 mins: Guided body scan meditation (Day 19) to foster body awareness.
15 mins: Small group breakout: Share experiences with mindful eating practices (Day 20).
15 mins: Group activity: “Finding Joy in Movement” (Day 23), brainstorming enjoyable, sustainable movement.
5 mins: Reflective journaling and affirmations.
Week 4: Sustaining Change and Building Resilience
Pre-Session Preparation:
Participants complete Days 24-28, focusing on sleep, real self-care, and nervous system regulation.
Session Outline:
10 mins: Final check-in: Highlights and challenges from the course.
15 mins: Group discussion on creating sustainable self-care routines (Days 25-26).
15 mins: Practice progressive muscle relaxation (Day 28) and discuss its application.
15 mins: Closing reflection circle: Participants share key takeaways and intentions moving forward.
5 mins: Wrap-up, feedback, and next steps.

Hi, I’m Maddie, a licensed therapist, ex-body hater and creator of The Essere Method.
I work with women every day to tackle their body image issues.
I did it for myself and helped dozens of my clients do the same. For years, I was convinced I was the problem until I hit a breaking point. I spent those years dieting, over-exercising, and blaming myself. At 27, in grad school, burnt out, I knew something had to change. I began to unlearn all the conditioning I had been exposed to and recognized the shame and self-hatred I was constantly putting myself through. I then began to dismantle it all and step into my true self. By doing this, I opened up my life in so many ways—hello, free brain space! I started painting, solo traveling, doing pilates, writing, and reading so much more. I learned that you can't hate, criticize, or berate your body into looking the way you want it to.
Let me say that again, you can't berate yourself into the body you think you should have.

This program is 4 weeks long. However, you will have access to The Essere Method (right on Teachable) as long as the course is active.
Like working a muscle, our relationships to ourselves and our bodies need constant revisiting. The content that’s within this course can help you to solidify and practice the content in real life. We are all in a constant state of change and evolution. If you need a “refresher”, this course will be here for you.

For 28 days, you will lay the groundwork for 15 minutes or less a day. I have designed this course to contain small, daily, achievable learnings and actions that create real lasting results. This isn't a quick fix. It's the groundwork to lasting change. After the 28 days, you will start solidifying the things you have learned and should start to notice real, tangible improvements with your Body Image.
